Hannah Sullivan, LSW, SSW

Hi! I’m Hannah Sullivan, a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in interpersonal communication with a minor in counseling psychology and acquired my Master’s Social Work, Policy, and Practice from The University of Chicago with a specialization in school social work.

My primary experience resides within Chicago schools where I provide group and 1:1 therapy to individuals ranging from the ages of 4-22 who have emotional dysregulation, autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, developmental delays, traumatic brain injuries, specific learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. I facilitate crisis assessments and co-create safety plans with those who are working through suicidal ideation, attempts, and/or various self- harm. I also generate social developmental evaluations, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans within students' IEP and 504 plans best to support them with their personal success.

I have been working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families for the past 5 years in Chicago. As a therapist, I utilize a combination of therapeutic techniques and modalities that include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP), harm reduction, narrative, art, and play therapeutic strategies in my work. I focus on my clients’ individual values and goals, and utilize these techniques to help them live a life that aligns with their beliefs.

I know therapy can appear to be scary and intimidating, and I try to make all my clients feel welcome by being genuine and myself in sessions. I am joyful, engaging, adventurous and compassionate. I strongly believe everyone is allowed to, and should be able to, feel safe to be themselves. My goal as a therapist is to be client centered and provide empathy, trust, and understanding towards all my clients’ lived experiences. I tailor my sessions to each individual person and their needs, and I work with my clients and their families to develop personalized goals and treatments to promote the best possible outcome.

I am a strong advocate, anti-oppressive, trauma informed, and judgement free therapist who will always be on my client’s side. I will always push for my clients’ feelings to be felt and their

voices be heard. I meet my clients where they are at, and support them through their life journey. I am passionate and love what I do and strive for my clients to feel my authenticity for them throughout their time in therapy!
