Hi, I’m Andy Belton and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University. One of my favorite quotes comes from psychotherapist Carl Jung: “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, be just another human soul.” This perfectly reflects how I see my role in therapy and in life. While I have the education and expertise to guide you, I don’t hide behind clinical jargon or a “therapist voice.” I talk and act like a regular person—because I am one.

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real, human conversation. My background includes work in hospice care, where I supported individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments, as well as experience working with adults with learning differences, helping them navigate challenges and build on their strengths.

I believe that building strong rapport is vital to therapy. Without trust and genuine
connection, it’s hard to open up and do the deep work that creates change. I focus on
creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted exactly as you are—so
you can feel safe enough to explore what’s really going on.

I see my clients as equals, not diagnoses. You’re the expert on your own life, and my
role is to be a trusted partner in your process—someone who can help you sort through
the hard stuff, offer fresh perspectives, and cheer you on when you need it most.
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck—unsure why we’re in this place or how to
move forward. The harder we try to “figure it out,” the more overwhelming it can feel. In
those moments, it helps to have someone walk alongside you, helping you untangle
what’s going on and find a path forward that feels doable and right for you.

I integrate evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), but I always tailor our work to fit your personality, needs,
and goals. My style is compassionate, relatable, and often lightened with a bit of
humor—because life can be serious, but therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating.
If you’re looking for a therapist who’s approachable, down-to-earth, and genuinely
invested in your progress, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
